-Best Dance Classes for Adults
Papermoon Performing Arts opened it's doors for a soft opening in March 2016 and opened it's first official dance season in September 2016! Under the direction of Danielle Eichman, Papermoon offers classes to all ages in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, creative movement, musical theatre, and student choreography. Classes are offered at the recreational level and the competitive level as well as “pre-competition” classes for dancers interested in starting to dance at the competitive level. Papermoon also offers recreational dance lessons at the adult level.
What Papermoon strives to create is a loving, educational environment for your dancer. Miss Danielle's mission is to deliver quality level dance training in a loving, healthy environment that not only helps dancers become the best dancer they can be, but the best person they can be. Dance shapes the whole person. There is no limit to how dance can enhance your life and we can't wait to share our love of dance with you!
When Miss Danielle was in the planning stages of Papermoon, Wolcott Dance Academy, Danielle's childhood dance studio, unfortunately closed its doors. Miss Danielle obtained many items from Wolcott Dance Academy, including ballet barres, mirrors, and benches. Miss Danielle's students will be learning on the very same ballet barres and mirrors that she used when she was 3 years old! Talk about sentimental value!
In July 2018, Papermoon moved to a beautiful new home on Commons Drive in Litchfield. Our new studio is a 2200 square foot space complete with a large waiting room for parents with two live TV streams to watch class, a waiting room for dancers, two large dance rooms, an outside picnic table, changing room, and more!
We moved July 2018! Watch the transformation of our new studio space here!
Miss Danielle has over 27 years of dance experience and has been working as a choreographer/instructor for the past 13 years. As a dancer, Miss Danielle earned many awards at competition as a ballet/lyrical soloist including Petite Miss Sophisticated, Miss Dance Arts Plus, and National Top Model at Star Systems Talent Competition, as well as high score overalls in group routines. She has performed at many well-known venues including Madison Square Garden, Gampel Pavilion at Storrs and the XL Center. Miss Danielle was one of two dancers in a cutting-edge opera series directed by Bob Sirota of the Manhattan School of Music and playwright Thomas Dulack in New York City at Symphony Space.
Miss Danielle was recently named to the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce's 40 Under 40 Distinction. Out of over 100 nominations, Danielle was chosen as a top leader under the age of 40 for what she brings to the Litchfield County community and for how she uses the studio in community outreaches.
As a teacher, Miss Danielle has choreographed overall high scoring routines and has won Top Teacher awards at various regional and national competitions. She has also served as a judge for local pageants with the Miss America organization. During Papermoon's first competition season, she won a Top Choreographer Award at Showbiz Talent Competition and won again during Papermoon's second season!
Danielle graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Literature from the University of Connecticut and very soon will have a MA in Literature from CCSU. She also holds a professional certificate in International Baking and Pastry from Lincoln Culinary Institute. While dance will ALWAYS be #1 in her heart and soul, Danielle loves to learn and finds infinite value from a well rounded education.
Miss Mackenzie has been dancing for a total of 19 years with 6 years experience as an assistant instructor. This season she returns for her fourth year as a choreograph/instructor for Papermoon.
She began competing at age 5 and went on to win Miss Petite Dance Arts Plus and Miss Junior Dance USA as well as many overall awards competing as a ballet soloist and a competition team dancer. Mackenzie has performed at the XL Center and Gampel Pavilion dancing for UConn men and women’s basketball. She also has performed at a pre-game show at Madison Square Garden in New York City for the New York Knicks. Other performances include several parades, dancing for Veterans, and other dances for the community. She recently graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven with a degree in Health Services. Miss Mackenzie is looking forward to helping the students and watching them learn to love dance as much as she does!
What do Miss Danielle's students say about her and about Papermoon?
"Danielle is more than just a dance instructor, she is a role model. Along with her incredible dance techniques, she is very personable and approachable which makes talking to her very easy. Her classes are her family and I have never felt left out or alone. Going to dance knowing that she will always support me is a great feeling. Her ideas and combinations are some that I will never forget because she makes dancing a part of life. She will never let you down as a teacher, dancer, or friend and I am so grateful for having had the chance to be a part of Miss Danielle's dance family." -Taylor
"At Papermoon we feel as though we are able to express ourselves without judgement. It is important for everyone to have a place where they can be themselves and not worry about drama and judgement." - Marilyn
"In 2009 I auditioned for my first jazz solo and was placed with my choreographer Danielle. My first class came around and I could not have been more nervous. However, it was not hard to warm up to Danielle. In just one year I achieved so much and that was shown throughout competition season. Others were noticing my improvements as well. Carrying into 2010, my second year being a soloist, I received the highest award (Platinum) and first place overall in competition for my category. If it was not for Miss Danielle’s persistent motivation and enthusiasm for dance I may not have ever broken out of that shy shell I hid in just a year before. Danielle has a way with teaching, she acknowledges each students strengths and weaknesses and uses them to that student’s greatest ability. I am so grateful to have been able to work with such a supportive and talented choreographer." -Emily
"Papermoon Performing Arts is a studio filled with love and support. Miss Danielle makes everyone feel important and valued. I’m grateful to belong to a studio where everyone lifts each other up." -Becky
"Dancing at Papermoon has helped me feel less anxious around others and has given me a safe space to freely express myself in my truest form. I have a place where I can look forward to go to at the end of the day and dance all my worries away."
